Newspaper Nails - Tutorial

Newspaper Inspired Nails - Tutorials.

Hello My lovelies so I am back with another blog post and this one is a tutorial for a look which I personally love. When I studied my hair and beauty Diploma I had seen this look on celebrities featured in magazines etc and I thought it look so cool. It looks really vintage which is obviously a really in look at the moment.

I never really took a lot of time at researching how to do this look and never attempted as I thought that you would have to be a professional to do. Although practise makes perfect and your nails will obviously improve over time it is a look which we can all try out at home. You don't need any special materials its a quick simple look, but you'll be sure to get comments on it as it is just so different.

I'd like to point out that the picture directly to the left are not my nails but all other picture are my own. So if you want to learn how to get this look then just keep reading:)

What you will need:
Nail File
♥  Base coat
♥  Nail polish ( colour of your choice)
♥  A page out of the newspaper
♥  A cup of water
  Top coat

Get the look

1) File nail to the shape and length you
want.

1) Prepare the nail - So the first step is preparing the nail. Here you want to remove any traces of old nails varnish - make sure you get right to the edges as you don't want to be getting a build up of nail varnish in the corners. Now that the whole nail bed is trace free this is the perfect time to push those cuticles back revealing as much of the nail bed as possible. Whip out those cuticle nippers and get rid of those cuticle (If you're new to this then please take your time to avoid ripping the skin.) In the ideal world let your nails breath a day with so nail varnish and apply cuticle oil, this is how you can keep your nails to their healthiest, however don't worry if you haven't got time to do this - or if you're like me you're just too desperate to try out the new look. Now file down your nails to a shape and length that suits you. I personally love having my nails reasonably short and squared off, but please do remember squared off nails are a lot more likely to chip. Now is the time to apply a base coat and let it dry properly.

2) Apply base coat colour - So this step is pretty self explanatory you're simply going to paint your nails with the colour you want to have under the newspaper text. I used a tan colour ( Barbara Daly nail polish in the colour "Whimsy".) This is the typical colour to use for the newspaper nails as it follows the vintage and retro theme, but keep your options open I also think it would look lovely with a lilac colour or pastel blue. Make sure to take your time applying the colour as this really is the base for your look. So do two coats and make sure you let those nails dry well girls:)

3) Get that print on - So now we have the base colour on we're ready to get the newspaper print on and here is where my technique is different to the majority of newspaper nails which use alcohol to transfer the print on to your nails. I always want to share techniques which I know you'll be able to
complete at home. You won't need to go to the shop and buy anything. Simply cut out a few pieces from the newspaper - slightly larger than nail size. Choose pieces with lots of text on. Once the base colour is completely dry simply dip the piece of nespaper into a cup of water - yes WATER. Give the piece of paper a little shake because you don't want it dripping wet. Place the piece onto the nail (Text facing the nail.) Now hold it onto you nails for about 20 seconds and press firmly pushing all over the nail. carefully peel the piece of paper away from the nail. Do all your nails.

3) Lock in that look - Please don't panic if at this stage your nails aren't looking amazing, you may not be able to see the text properly and it may look white as if all of the paper has stuck to the nail, but have faith I know what I'm talking about. When you placed the wet piece of newspaper onto your nail the top layer transferred onro rhw nail, not just the text it will also contain a very thin layer of paper, as the transfer dries all you'll be able to see are the fibres of paper and now the text, so we need to lock in some moisture. This is where our top coat comes in at it is essential to this look. I love applying the tope coat as its almost magical. You need to try this look just to the the newspaper text magically appear on your nails when applying the top coat. Let the top coat dry completely and there you go!!!

Please go try this look right now I can tell you, you won't be dissappointed I know I love it I just love
how many comments you will get on you're nails, it looks as if you've tried so hard or even paid a visit to your local nail salon, but it is SO easy and quick once you've done it once you won't understand why you hadn't done it before. I promise you I am not very artistic or creative I can have amazing ideas in my head but when It comes to doing them they turn out a disaster but this look isn't hard, you wont make a mess, you won't need to go buy any extra material, equipments or colours. So please try it. Leave me a comment if you've tried it or if you have any questions:)

I love discovering new looks so please keep your options open and dont be afraid to experiment with colours and ideas and techiques at the end of the day what have you got to lose the worst that can happen is that you have to wipre it off and start again. I am currently on the look out for something cute in the newspaper such as hearts or little cartoons as I think it'll look so cool to transfer that on to my nails.

So I really hope you try out this look and that you have fun with it and mostly that you're proud and happy with your creations.

Be happy and stay positive

Keep fit

Keep fit stay healthy.

So first of all my lovelies welcome back. I think from the title its pretty simple what I'm here to talk to you about today. So first comes the embarrassing part where I have to admit how terrible my diet was and how aweful my excerise routine was. To be quite honest with you its embarrassing:/ hah.
So I was never careful with what I ate or how I looked after my body. so lets start from the morning. I would never have breakfast as I'd wake up early so it would always make me feel ill eating that early. Almost every lunch I'd have a shop bought sandwhich along with a chocolate bar and sometimes a yoghurt, during the working hours I would drink plenty of water. I get home after work about 6:00pm and most evening would have ready made meals, when we did cook our meals ourselves the wouldn't be particularly healthy but I never put any thought into what I ate. I was never really active after work as I was so tired all the time, most days I would sit down in front of the telly or watch youtube videos, read blogs etc. This is were all the bags of candy came. Also when I was at home I'd mostly drink CocaCola. So that's pretty much what my daily routine was like. The worst thing is that I didn't realise what I was doing to my body.
So you really wouldn't believe how these things effect you I had oily skin with regular break outs, although still being a healthy weight (for some crazy unknkown reason) I was really not confident in my own body I wasn't toned AT ALL, there were lots of flabbly bits on my arms and thighs. Of course I'm latin so am blessed with curvy thighs and hips (not always a blessing). Being a short 5"3 and extra couple of pounds on me really makes a difference and makes me look "stumpy". Apart from physically it also has a major effect on how you feel, I was constantly feeling tired, and having head aches, and would easily get stressed and feel down.

Make sure you're realistic about your goals and how you want to go about achieving them I have tried "diets" on many occassions and end up giving in after just a day (if even that). Something that has really helped me on this occassion is doing things gradually and slowly do things in a way that your body can mannage. Remember although all those bad stuff does no good for you, your body does addapt do it and even depend on it, I can tell you that when I started making changes I suffered from withdrawel symptons and suffered from bad head aches, but your body will soon thank you for. Also remember if you do things in a way that you can manage and setting realistic goals then your likely to stick to it. Never think of it as a diet, but as I change of lifestyle.

The first thing I had to do is give up all fizzy drinks and sweets. This is all I changed for a few days and for me it really helped me get started. As after a few days I felt I was doing great because I had stuck to it so I felt much more capable of making other small changes. That was my diet that had kick started, now I had to face the HUGE mountain of excericise. Again you need to ease yourself into it. I remeber once I went from not doing any exercise to attempting this advanced exercise video, the next day I obviously woke up so sore it put me right off exercise all together, so don't make that mistake. I felt that I just wasn't quite ready to tackle exercise, but I still wanted to get my body used to being more active, so again this was slow progress but for me it really helped. Instead of going straight from the dinner table to the sofa I would do housework and keep doing something on my feet until about an hour before bed time were I would allow myself to relax.

Staying active releases hormones which make you happy and this is addictive. I already knew this so although it was hard to start with I tried doing a little more each day, the more I done the more I wanted to do and in no time I actually WANTED to combine it with swimming, sit ups before bed and exercise videos.

Once you get started no matter how small the changes are, it makes you feel good about yourself and it makes it easier to do more, needless to say now I'm in a much better and more stable routine to keeping fit and the benefits are endless I feel so much better for it in so many ways (of course there will be another blog talking about benefits etc.)
I also want to share with  you that it takes about 20 days for it to become a routine and your body to get fully used to it. So make a goal of just keeping it up for 20, if you manage that it'll be alot easier for you to carry on.

Please remember I am not a proffessional. Also I have not reached my goal and am much in the same possition as you guys - in need of motivation, however I know I'm on the right track and this makes me want to keep going.

Let me know how you guys get on.
Until next time,

Vaseline Spray and go moisturizer Review

Vaseline Spray and Go Review.

What Vaseline Spray and Go say to do.

So Vaseline spray and go is a new product this is probably why i was drawn straight to it and super excited. It comes in a it comes in an aerosol container of 190ml. It says to moisturise in seconds so you can put your clothes straight on, instantly leave skin soft not greasy or sticky, it dispenses evenly with one all over continuous spray. You can purchase this product in Pure aloe, total moisture or in Cocoa Butter ( I purchased the Cocoa Butter one.)

Appearance.

I really like the look of Vaseline spray and Go I think the name is really clever as stated before and I think it looks really sleek. I prefer the Cocoa Butter one and this is the one I am reviewing because It is the one I have tried. The bottle is brown as you can see from

the images and follows those neutral colours which I really like because It reminds me of natural healthy products.

What draws you to this product?

Well if you're anything like me the first thing that drew me to this product was the fact that it said NEW;) So to be honest i wasn't particularly looking for a new moisturiser to try out I was queuing up waiting to pay for my other other goods and this was placed tactically in the check outs. So you understand what I am trying to say one of those impulsive buys which you really do because you're bored of waiting.
Vaseline were very clever in naming their new product Spray and Go as it is obviously going to appeal to anyone that has a busy life style. I'm not going to lie to you the one thing that suffers in my beauty regime is moisturising my body, I just feel i never have the time, especially to wait around for it to dry of. So the idea of this product is just genius, something quick and easy for us hard working ladies.
I am also a sucker for anything that is Cocoa Butter I know it has some amazing properties, but i just looooooveeeee the way it smells. I purchased this from Boots UK for £4.99 but you can purchase it from any drugstore or even superstore in the beauty department.

What I thought of this product.

So no down to the juicy part we all really care about, was this product any good?
I am going to be completely frank with you, I am not impressed with this product Vaseline have really let us down on this one. Many people write reviews when they love a product and are buzzing because of it, but on this occasion this product didn't give me that buzz.
On spraying I love it it sprays continuously and evenly on to the skin, the smell I love, but then you rub the product into the skin and it all goes down hill from there. This product has a very watered down consistency, it doesn't feel luxurious or creamy. Don't get me wrong I understand that if they want it to spray out of a bottle so evenly then it obviously cannot be a thick creamy consistency, however I feel they have seriously lowered the quality of the product. You won't understand just how watery this product is until you try it yourself.
So you're probably asking yourself : "If the product is so watery then how can it dry in seconds?" well you're right basically It doesn't, I feel that the product takes ages to dry, maybe not necessarily longer than any other body moisturiser, but it does claim to dry in seconds, so that's what you would expect, this in turn defeats the idea of "Spray and Go" which really disappointed me.
On drying this product is lovely! When dry it feels really moisturising and luxurious and leaves you're legs looking soft. I was super happy with the end result, It is just a shame the application is not a nicer experience and the product claims to do things it doesn't ....disappointing.

If you don't have time to read this review.

This section is particularly for those of you which don't want to read a whole blog  post but still want a good idea of what this product is all about, so here we go:

Where can I purchase this product: Any drugstore
Is it good value for money: £4.99 for a bottle of 190ml I believe it is good value for money.
smell: Cocoa Butter, DELICIOUS
Consistency: Watery - not impressed.
Application: Didn't enjoy application due to the consistency, long drying time.
Am i going to repurchase? No
Rating out of 10: 6/10

You're turn.

Please remember this is just my opinion on the matter and you may love this product. It is very inexpensive, so you're not really loosing anything in trying it out.
Have you tried it already? What did you think? Please let me know and let me know of any requests you may have:)

Until next time,
Damaris
